My name is Ella York, and I love soccer. I had a soccer ball at my feet when I took my very first step. As a toddler, I was the half time entertainment at my brother’s soccer games, dribbling the ball down the field and scoring goals. I joined my first team when I was four, and haven’t looked back. I currently play for the Dallas Texans 08 ECNL team and Lovejoy High School Varsity Soccer team. I also run Cross Country, and volunteer at All Community Outreach.
I love my family as much as I love soccer. My family is super diverse. Growing up surrounded by them has helped me be more empathetic and open-minded, which has made me a better soccer player and teammate. With their love and support (and my hard work) I know I’ll reach my goal of playing soccer in college.

Would you rather go undefeated in the regular season or win the championship?
I would want to win the Championship. I love the hype and vibe of playing in the post season. That feeling you get when you and your teammates have worked together and gotten better all season long is amazing. Winning a championship is even sweeter when you’ve lost some games along the way.
Would you rather play an amazing game but lose or play an average game and win?
I would rather play an amazing game but lose. The only thing I can control on the pitch is how I play. I can’t control anything else. So, it’s better for me to know I did my part for my team, even if we lose. But winning is awesome, too.
Would you rather meet your childhood sports idol today or play your sports idol in his or her prime?
I would play Carli Lloyd in her prime. I’d love to know how I stack up against her, and learn from her. I’d also like to play against Michael Jordan in his prime. It would be amazing to see him on the court in person instead of watching him in old videos.
